2012 Fall: Senior Season
To date, Phillips has won every major Mountain West Conference award possible including Freshman of the year and three All-Conference singles and doubles award. Conor Berg and Jadon Phillips are ranked #58 in the country for doubles. The two competed in the Denver Invitational winning two out of three doubles matches. He is also ranked #117 in the nation in singles.
2011-12: Junior Season
He posted a singles record of 17-14 overall and a doubles record of 21-12. He has recorded a career doubles record of 52-33 and a career singles record of 64-38, which is competitive for 25th all-time for most singles wins in a career. He mostly teamed with Phil Anderson during the dual season in doubles. The duo were ranked 66th in the nation at the end of the year. The duo were 17-8 overall in the season. He was selected to the 2011-12 All-Mountain West Team for the third time in his career for doubles with Phil Anderson. The duo reached the finals at the ITA Regional Tournament and participated in the ITA National Indoor Tournament. He reached the finals of the ITA Regional Tournament in both singles and doubles. At the ITA All-American, Anderson and Phillips defeated the nationally ranked number seven doubles team with a score of 8-3. The duo also competed at the NCAA Doubles Championships. He received the Mountain West Academic All-Conference Award for spring 2012.
2010-2011: Sophomore Season
Phillips played mostly at number one in singles and played equally at the number one and number two positions in doubles during the spring season with Phillip Anderson. He has a 26-12 record in singles. Teamed mostly with Phillip Anderson in doubles, the duo finished the season with a 16-7 record. He received the Mountain West Conference All-Conference award in singles and doubles. He is the first Lobo to reach the finals at the USTA/ITA Regional Tournament as a sophomore.
2009-2010: Freshman Season
He was named the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year while also landing on the MWC singles and doubles team. He was the first MWC men’s player to garner all three accolades in the same season. He recorded a 20-win season as a true freshman, going 21-12 for the season including a 12-7 spring record and a 9-5 fall mark. He went 5-1 in conference singles. In fall play, he finished 9-5 in singles and 7-2 in doubles with Ben Dunbar. He defeated 85th-ranked (preseason) Texas’ Atila Bucco 6-2, 6-2 at the Midland Collegiate Invite. He advanced to the championship round at the Balloon Fiesta Invite, winning three straight matches at the event before falling to teammate Carl Ho. He was seeded 17th at the ITA Fall Regional, picking up three wins in four matches at the event.
Prior to UNM
He is a 2009 graduate of Central High school in Macon, Ga. He won the 2008 ATP Gator Bowl Junior Tennis Championship, defeating two top 10 U.S. juniors in the semifinals and finals. He is a two-time Gator Bowl champion and three-time National Open Champion (Boys 14, Boys 16 and Boys 18 in Macon). He finished high school in the top 30academically in his graduating class with a 3.92 GPA. He was named to the AB Honor Roll his freshman and sophomore years. He finished ranked 40th in the nation in the boys’ class of 2009, 14th in the southeast and second in Georgia. He was ranked as high as 10th in 2009 and 2007 recruiting and as high as seventh in 2008 and 2006 recruiting. He is a blue-chip recruit on tennisrecruiting.net.
Personal
He is the son of Derrick and Velma Phillips and has two older brothers, Jamus and Donovan. His brother, Donovan played baseball at Paine College. His major is Psychology. His hobbies include listening to music, playing football and Frisbee. His favoritesports memory is attending his first national as a junior, the boys 14 and under National Open Champion in Macon, Ga. in 2003.

“He is a great guy. He is one of two seniors on the team. He has taken the leadership role which I think is great. I’m expecting him to have a great senior season. After having a little bit of a lackadaisical junior season, I’m looking for him to rebound and play the kind of tennis day in and day out that I think he is capable of. If he does that, he has a great chance to get to the NCAA tournaments individually and in doubles. He really carries this team on his back with a lot of big wins in the lineup.”
