The Lobo Way Sportsmanship Initiative

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — With a growing emphasis on sportsmanship, the University of New Mexico Athletics Department has announced “The Lobo Way” a sportsmanship initiative that is a part of UNM’s larger upcoming strategic plan, which will be released in the coming days.

With fan behavior and sportsmanship at the forefront of college athletics, Vice President/Director of Athletics Eddie Nuñez has put an emphasis on UNM becoming the standard of excellence in everything UNM does as a university, including our sportsmanship at events.

“The Lobo Way is the first piece of a rollout of our strategic plan, and it crosses all of our sports.  We want our home events to be inclusive and full of Lobo Pride. We want our fans to cheer loud and proud and enjoy themselves while emphasizing a family atmosphere.

The Lobo Way creed is as follows:

THE LOBO WAY

SHOW YOUR LOBO SPIRIT BY REPRESENTING OUR UNIVERSITY AND COMMUNITY WITH PRIDE, INCLUSION, UNITY AND RESPECT.

THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO DOES NOT TOLERATE DEROGATORY, INSULTING, OR RACIAL REMARKS OF ANY KIND DIRECTED AT OFFICIALS, STAFF, ATHLETES OR TEAM REPRESENTATIVES.  NEW MEXICO INLCUDES EVERYONE, RESPECTS OUR OPPONENTS AND SHOWS PRIDE FOR THE LOBOS WHILE PROMOTING UNITY ACROSS ALL AREAS OF ATHLETICS HOME AND AWAY!

THIS IS THE LOBO WAY.
