MESA, Ariz. – The New Mexico women’s golf team continued its strong play on Saturday at the Clover Cup during the second round at Longbow Golf Club. The Lobos shot 2-under during Saturday’s round to remain in second place at 6-under through 36 holes.

New Mexico was one of just two teams in the 14-team field to shoot under par in the second round. Tenth-ranked Texas A&M continues to lead, sitting at 16-under through 36 holes. The Lobos, ranked No. 50 nationally, are the only other team in red numbers at 6-under. No. 31 Georgia is third at 3-over, No. 29 Clemson is fourth at 5-over and No. 46 Tennessee rounds out the top five at 12-over.

Three Lobos are in the individual top 10 through two rounds of play. Lauren Lehigh is T-4th at 4-under after a second round 71. Jenny Lertsadwattana shot the low round of the day for New Mexico, a 3-under 69, to be T-6th at 3-under. Myah McDonald shot 71 for the second straight day and is T-8th at 2-under. Maria Caparros Levin shot 75 on Saturday, while Chloe Lauer shot 79 to round out the lineup.

“We got off to a bit of a slow start today, but we brought it back and held strong,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “We were able to put ourselves in a good position to contend for the title tomorrow.”
