Lobos Look to Extend Win Streak Over NMSU to Seven

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico women’s swimming and diving team will be competing against long-time rival New Mexico State in Las Cruses on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. MT. 
 
The last time Lobos competed against the Aggies was a home meet for Senior Day in which UNM celebrated a 192-108 win. The Lobos took 13 out of the 16 total events and extend their winning-streak versus NM State to six.
 
There were two relay teams and seven current swimmers who placed first in last season’s dual-meet. Konoha Shinada and Adriana Palomino each had two individual wins with Shinada winning the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.44) and the 100-yard butterfly (56.94), and Palomino finishing first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:01.13) and the 1000-yard freestyle (9:54.54).
 
Carol De Groote Tavares had one individual win in the 100-yard backstroke (1:47.06). Meanwhile, Emily Huffer took first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:02.49) and Klara Farkas won the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.68). Matea Sumajstorcic claimed a podium spot, topping the 200-yard IM (2:09.95).

Hannah Tiendas captured her first-ever collegiate win in the one-meter dive against NMSU last year, making the NCAA Zone Cut with a score of 273.13.

The Lobos will be competing in 16 events on Saturday at the NM State Swimming and Diving Complex.
