Gianna Viola joined the Lobo family in January of 2025, and she serves as the administrative assistant for head coach Jason Eck.

Viola plays a key role in the day-to-day operations of the program, assisting with team travel, recruiting logistics, connecting the football program with other university departments and various other administrative projects.  She also coordinates Coach Eck’s many speaking engagements and handles other office tasks and serves as a liaison with UNM’s player development staff.

Before joining UNM, Viola served as a graduate assistant in operations at the University of Idaho, where she was part of the support staff during the Vandals’ 10-4 season in 2024—the program’s first 10-win season since 1993.

Viola grew up surrounded by sports, spending her Saturdays at college football games, and playing a variety of sports herself. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon and is currently completing her MBA online through the University of Idaho.
