Dakota Winchell joined the Lobo family in February of 2025, and he serves as Director of Video Technology. He came to UNM after serving in a similar capacity at the University of Idaho where he worked with coach Jason Eck.
With New Mexico, Winchell oversees all game and practice filming, which includes uploading and breaking out film by position and situation. He is responsible for the upkeep of all the latest technology for the coaching staff and players to review video. He also serves as UNM’s liaison for conference technology regarding the use of in-game tablets.
Winchell got his collegiate career started with started with the Vandals in June of 2023 as the Director of Video and Technology Services, working in that position for two seasons. Winchell handled all game and practice film for Vandal football as well as the other Vandal sports.
Prior to Idaho, Winchell worked as a student assistant at the University of Houston with the football program. While in Houston, he also worked with the Houston Roughnecks (XFL) on the game day video staff.
Winchell graduated from the University of Houston in 2023 with a Bachelor’s in Sport Administration. The Eau Claire, Wis. native is joined by his wife Hailey and their son, Miles.
