Sukhdeep Mahein joined the Lobo Family in the fall of 2021 and he serves as the athletic performance graduate assistant, working with Lobo Football.

Deep handles many tasks with Lobo Football, including working with UNM’s rehabbing and injured players.

Mahein came to UNM from Washington State, where he served as a Kinesiology Activity Instructor, a certified personal trainer and working in the weight room.

He was familiar to head coach Danny Gonzales from his time at Arizona State, where he served as an intern in the Strength and Conditioning office, where he was responsible for programming, coaching and rehabilitating injured players.

Mahein’s college coaching start came at Washington State, where in his first term of service he served as an associate strength and conditioning coach and intern, working with baseball and men’s basketball as well as women’s soccer.

Mahein, who is on track to graduate with a master’s of science in kinesiology and exercise science from UNM, earned a bachelor’s of science in kinesiology and exercise science from Washington State in 2021.
He is certified as a certified personal trainer, a USAW Level 1 Coach, in mental health first aid, in first aid/CPR and as a Level 1 coach in functional moving.
