Jordan Somerville joined The University of New Mexico in January of 2020. He serves as running backs coach and as UNM’s recruiting coordinator.
Lobo running backs were terrific in 2020 with Somerville heading the way. Bobby Cole led the Lobos in scoring and rushing while earning honorable mention honors. UNM also got huge contributions from a true freshman as well, and Lobo running backs even threw two touchdown passes as UNM finished fourth in the Mountain West in rushing. The Lobos have also made huge strides in recruiting. After the 2021 recruiting classes were announced, UNM was one of only six FBS teams that have improved its national recruiting ranking in each of the last four years, and UNM is the only Mountain West team on the list. The Lobos have also increased its presence on social media with a dedicated recruiting account that has grown to over 7,000 followers in a few short months.
Somerville was a graduate assistant in 2019 with the Arizona State Sun Devils, helping the squad to a berth in the Tony the Tigers Sun Bowl. The Tempe native has already gained a reputation in his young career as a tireless worker, and a tremendous recruiter, with seemingly endless contacts.
Prior to his work as a G.A., Somerville was a student assistant for two seasons with Arizona State. He also spend a season with the American Leadership Academy, working with the offensive line and run game coordinator.
