NEW MEXICO: Made a successful switch from wide receiver to cornerback and was a starter on defensive in 2013 … has ideal size and length for his position and has great hands that he know uses to break up passes and gain leverage on wide receivers in coverage … has developed a confidence in his ability that will help him make more plays in 2014.
2013 (JUNIOR): Started in 11 games, missing the other while recovering from an injury … tied for ninth in the nation in fumble recoveries with three, returning one for a touchdown against UTSA for his first career defensive touchdown and second overall … finished the season with 42 tackles, two sacks, four pass breakups and an interception … the interception came against in-state rival New Mexico State … had a career-high seven tackles agaisnt Wyoming and a career-high five solo tackles against Fresno State.
2012 (SOPHOMORE) Played in eight games … had six receptions for 71 yards … also ran the ball five times for 19 yards and one touchdown in UNM’s pistol offense … best game came against Hawai’i on Oct. 13 in which he had one reception for a career-long 36 yards and had a six-yard TD run.
JUNIOR COLLEGE: Played one season (2011) for Blinn College, catching 30 passes for 567 yards and five touchdowns…Blinn reached the Mississippi Bowl in 2011, finishing with a 9-2 record and a No. 10 ranking in the final NJCAA poll…has three years of eligibility remaining…”He is a very talented football player, a good student and a good teammate,” Blinn assistant coach Keith Browning says. “He comes from a great family and will represent the Lobo program the right way.”…a three-star Rivals.com prospect…
HIGH SCHOOL: Recorded team highs with 43 receptions, 769 yards and eight TDs in 2009 as a senior for Manvel High School…had 18 receptions for a team-leading 348 yards with four TDs his junior year at Manvel…a two-time All-District 24-4A and All-County selection and an honorable-mention All-State WR his senior year…a regional qualifier in track and field in the 4-by-200 meters.
