NEW MEXICO: Returning senior who had a long-awaited breakout campaign in 2012 after a lingering knee injury forced him to redshirt in 2011 … a fast, shifty runner who proved to be extremely durable for his size as the featured back in 2012 … has good vision and excellent hands out of the backfield … also a fearless competitor on special teams … named a 2013 team captain during spring practice … unofficially clocked at 4.5 in the 40 during high school when he was one of the most dominant RBs in the state of Texas…did a fine job in the classroom, earning Academic All-MWC honors in his first semester at UNM…very involved off the field while in high school as a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and as a volunteer coach for the Pearland Hurricanes youth football team…after Hurricane Ike hit the area, he removed heavy debris and destroyed furniture from the homes of the elderly and less fortunate living in his neighborhood.

2013 (SENIOR): Namedto the Maxwell Award preseason watch list, whichannually goes to the best college football player in America … on the preseason College Football Performance Awards watch list … named preseason first team All-Mountain West by Bleacher Report, Bloguin.com, College Sports Madness, Athlon Sports, and Phil Steele … was chosen one of four team captains by his teammates … 

saw his season cut short after only 10 games, but still managed to rush for over 1,100 yards for the second straight season, finishing with 1,122 on 189 carries for a career-high mark of 5.9 yards per carry … the yardage is the ninth most in a single season in school history … earned Second Team All-Mountain West honors for the second straight season … recorded 10 total touchdowns (nine rushing, one receiving) and averaged 116.5 yards of offense per game … named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week for his effort against UTEP on Sept. 7 … rushed for 291 yards and a career-high tying four touchdowns on a career-high 41 carries in the Lobos’ win over the Miners … rushed for 192 yards and a touchdown against UNLV on Sept. 28 … it was the second most rushing yards for him in a single game, behind only his MW record-setting 338-yard performance against Air Force in 2012 … played only one series after halftime vs. New Mexico State on Oct. 5 but still rushed for 126 yards and three touchdowns … at Wyoming on Oct. 12 he rushed for 104 yards and added 43 more receiving yards, including the first touchdown catch of his career on a career-long 24-yard reception … passed the 3,000 yard rushing mark for his career with 72 yards at San Diego State on Nov. 2 … rushed for 179 rushing yards against Air Force on Nov. 8 … named the Reese Hill Offensive Most Valuable Player and the Bill Brannin Most Valuable Player as voted by his teammates … finished his career fifth all time in rushing in UNM history with 3,233 yards and fifth in carries with 609 while his 26 rushing touchdowns rank sixth … appeared in 39 career games (25 starts) for the Lobos.

2012 (JUNIOR):A team captain who enjoyed a record-setting season during his first year as the featured back of the offense by gaining 1,469 rushing yards with 15 TDs … earned second-team All-Mountain West honors … played the last third of the season on a pair of sore hamstring muscles … Finished with 59 rushing yards on 16 carries vs. Colorado State on Nov. 24 to break UNM’s single-season rushing record of 1,450 yards, previously held by DonTrell Moore in 2003 … also scored on a 1-yard run for his 15th rushing TD of the season, to rank second all-time on the schools list, and had one catch for four yards. … carried the ball 18 times for 145 yards against Nevada on Nov. 17 … had a career-long 76-yard run on the Lobos’ first play of the third quarter against the Cowboys … rushed for 109 yards and one touchdown on 32 carries against Wyoming on Nov. 10 … caught two passes for 32 yards against the Cowboys … named one of three team captains for the remainder of the season prior to the game against Wyoming … led the Lobos in rushing with a 136-yard effort against Fresno State on Oct. 27 … rushed for two touchdowns and had a 57-yard rush against the Bulldogs … also caught two passes, one of which was for a career-long 20 yards … had a record-breaking day at Air Force on Oct. 20 as he set a new school and Mountain West record for rushing yards in a game with 338 on a career-high 39 carries … was the first player to rush for 300 or more yards in an FBS game this season … also scored three touchdowns against the Falcons and had a 68-yard run in the first quarter … recorded one catch for five yards, giving him 343 all-purpose yards, setting a new record for a conference game … earned numerous honors for his record-breaking day including Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, College Sports Madness Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, and honorable mention Running Back of the Week by College Football Performance Awards … recorded his third 100-yard rushing game of the season against Hawaii on Oct. 13 as he set a new career-high in carries with 35 … finished with 161 yards and scored two touchdowns against the Warriors … his TDs were a 23-yard run in the first quarter and a one-yard rush early in the second quarter … also caught one pass for nine yards against Hawaii … was named Mountain West Co-Offensive Player of the Week and College Sports Madness Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week for his work against Texas State on Oct. 6 … set then-career highs in carries (23), yards (191) and touchdowns (four) as the Lobos defeated the Bobcats 35-14 … led the Lobos in rushing for the second straight game against No. 24 Boise State on Sept. 29 … finished with 86 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries against the Broncos … recorded his first career 100-yard game in UNM’s win over New Mexico State … finished with 129 yards on 21 carries … scored his first touchdown of the season on a 29-yard run against the Aggies with 5:49 remaining in the third quarter … started his first game of the season at Texas Tech and finished with 12 rushing yards … made his season debut against No. 17 Texas on Sept. 8 … rushed for 51 yards on 11 carries with a long of 18 yards and tied for the team lead in receptions with two against the Longhorns.

2011 (REDSHIRT): Hurt his ankle during fall camp and, after missing the first few games, was placed on his redshirt season.

2010 (SOPHOMORE): Played in 11 games with 5 starts and continued to improve throughout the season…led UNM in rushing with 373 yards in his first full season…had two touchdowns including his first career TD at New Mexico State on Oct. 9…averaged 33.9 yards per game, including a long run of 38 yards at Air Force…finished the year with 21 catches for 121 yards…emerged as the primary running back late in the year…had a career-high 97 yards against Wyoming on Nov. 6…also a 23.6-yard average on eight kickoff returns.

2009 (TRUE FRESHMAN): Added a tremendous spark to the offense in his first 6 collegiate games (1 start) as a 19-year-old rookie…led the team in rushing in 4 of his 6 appearances…averaged a team-best 44.8 rushing yards/game (269 total on 61 carries – 4.4 avg.) with a long of 22…21 catches (92 yards, long of 13, 4.4 avg.) were 2nd among Lobo RBs…led the team with averages of 60.2 yards from scrimmage (361 total) and 99.0 all-purpose yards (594 total) per game…team-best 23.3-yard average on his 10 kickoff returns with a long of 49…29 yards on 6 carries in his week 7 debut vs. UNLV…Academic All-MWC honoree.

`09 HIGHLIGHTS: vs. Colorado State…Huge performance to help lead the Lobos to their first victory…season-highs with 15 carries for 87 yards…had 50 yards on 6 rushes in the 4th quarter, including a 22-yard burst with one minute remaining to set up the Lobos’ game-winning field goal…also had a 3-yard run on 4th-and-1 to set-up the Lobos’ 2nd TD of the night…racked up a season-high 183 all-purpose yards, including a 49-yard kickoff return – the team’s longest of the year – to set up a pivotal TD run by fellow true freshman RB Demond Dennis…vs. No 22 BYU…Team-high 140 all-purpose yards on 21 touches…caught 8 passes out of the backfield for 47 yards, including a long of 13, and had 25 yards rushing on 10 carries with a long of 9…also averaged 22.7 yards on his 3 kickoff returns with a long of 34…at No. 14 Utah…Led the team once again with 54 yards on 11 carries against one of the MWC’s toughest defenses…did an excellent job of spinning and bouncing off would-be tacklers and slashing through narrow creases for additional yardage…long of 16…also added a 28-yard kickoff return…at San Diego State…Team-high 63 yards on 13 carries (4.8 avg.) with a long gain of 14…4 carries for 26 yards in the 1st quarter and had 7 carries for 31 yards in the 3rd quarter…also had 3 catches for 15 yards (long of 12) and did a fine job of pass protection against a blitz-heavy defense.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2009 graduate of Pearland (Texas) HS, which is a Houston suburb…hometown is pronounced PARE-land…ran for 4,415 yards and 61 TDs in a brilliant prep career…all-state by the Texas Sportswriters Association in 2008 when he finished third in Class 5A rushing with 2,117 yards…also tied for the state scoring crown with a school-record 35 TDs…averaged 7.8 yards per carry…four-year varsity letterwinner for head coach Tony Heath…helped the Oilers to the 2008 District 22-5A title…all-county and district 24-5A offensive player of the year as a junior…also ran the 100 meters for the track team.

PERSONAL: Born Feb. 14, 1990, in LaMarque, Texas…full name is Kasey Jamal Carrier…son of Kevin Carrier and Norma DeVault… graduated in May of 2013 with a degree in Criminology at UNM.
