Lobos Add Mercyhurst for 2026 Football Schedule

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico has added Mercyhurst University to the 2026 football schedule.  The Lakers went 4-7 last season and are members of the Northeast Conference.  The game will be played on September 12.  Mercyhurst is located in Erie, Pennsylvania.

The Lobos last hosted a team from the Eastern Time Zone in 2022 when the Lobos defeated Maine 41-0 to open to 2022 season.

The Mercyhurst game is now the third game scheduled for the 2026 season, and the first home game.  The Lobos will travel to both Oklahoma and New Mexico State.

The Lobos are coached by Jason Eck, who enters his first season with UNM in 2025 after leading the Idaho Vandals to three straight FCS playoff appearances and a 26-13 record in his three seasons in Moscow.
