Swimming & Diving Faces Tough Test in Wyoming
LARAMIE, Wyo. — The Lobo swimming and diving squad, two weeks after a season opening split at home, heads on the road for a very tough opening season test as the team takes on the University of Wyoming. The meet will take place at the Laramie High School pool starting at 10 a.m.
UNM is coming off a good opening week in which it lost a close match to North Texas and won handily over Western Colorado. Wyoming finished second at the Air Force Invitational, a meet that featured Air Force, Colorado State, Denver, Northern Colorado and Wyoming.
The Lobos will have five divers for the meet Rithika Colvin, Alice English, Arianna Pelligra, Isabella Gomez and Zoe Rinon diving in both the 1-meter and the 3-meter.
UNM’s two relay teams will look for another good showing with Katy McCarter, Emily Fold, Jordan Foster and Arianna Stokes in the 200-yard medley relay and Foster, McCarter, Stokes and Linda Franco in the 200-yard freestyle relay. In between, the Lobos will have nearly the same group going that swam in the opener.
Arianna Stokes will look for a second win on the season in the 50-free, and newcomer Ellie Broughton will look for another good time in the 200-fly.
