Miami Marlins Acquire Kyler Castillo

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Third Team All-American, First Team Central-ABCA/Rawlings All-Region, and Mountain West batting champion, Kyler Castillo, of The University of New Mexico baseball team has signed with the Miami Marlins. The outfielder was most recently with the Missoula PaddleHeads, who reached an agreement with the Marlins to purchase the contract of Castillo.

In just 21 appearances with the PaddleHeads, Castillo posted a slash line of .314/.403/.373.

While at UNM, Castillo led the Lobos with a .439 (72-for-164) average with 40 runs scored, 16 doubles, seven home runs, and 40 RBIs. The native of Midlothian, Texas, finished the 2020-21 season with a fourth-best average in the Nation. He slugged at a clip of .665 and posted an on-base percentage of .486. The senior finished the season with a 15-game hit streak, 12 of those being multi-hit games.
