Castillo Named Third Team All-American

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Honors keep rolling for the University of New Mexico baseball team’s Kyler Castillo, who has been named to the NCAA Div. I All-America Third Team, announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings Sporting Goods over the weekend.

A native of Midlothian, Texas, Castillo led the Lobos with a .439 (72-for-164) average with 40 runs scored, 16 doubles, seven home runs, and 40 RBIs. He finished the season with a fourth-best average in the Nation. He slugged at a clip of .665 and posted an on-base percentage of .486. The senior finished the season with a 15-game hit streak, 12 of those being multi-hit games.

First recognized in 1949, the ABCA/Rawlings All-Americans are selected by the ABCA All-America committee, which is chaired by Tommy Raffo of Arkansas State University. ABCA/Rawlings All-Region first-team selections, which were announced on Wednesday, were nominated for All-America honors.
