2021 Lobo Football Game Day Information
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The highly anticipated 2021 Lobo Football season is less than three months away. After becoming the first Division I football team to play an entire season outside of its home state, your Lobos are back in New Mexico and ready to play in front of the Lobo faithful!
When the Lobos kick off their home opener against Houston Baptist on September 2nd at University Stadium, it will have been 642 days between home games for Lobo Football and for its fans. It will also be the first time that Lobo fans will be able to cheer on a team in person led by Head Coach Danny Gonzales. The former Lobo player and assistant coach is looking forward to running out of the University Stadium tunnel, and leading the team he grew up watching and idolizing onto the field.
“Coaching this team and representing our state and community is an absolute privilege,” said Gonzales. “September 2 will be a great celebration for the entire state as Lobo Football returns, and I’m so excited for our fans to be able to come out and celebrate with us.”
The Lobos will play six games this season at University Stadium, starting with the first two games of the year, on September 2 against Houston Baptist and on September 11 against New Mexico State. To prepare for the 2021 season, there will be some new policies and procedures in place for Lobo Football games at University Stadium. Some of these policies are the results of updated safety procedures after the pandemic, while others are designed for fan convenience and safety. The following are some of the new policies for the 2021 football season:
Parking
Parking lots will now open at 6 am on all game days. Previously, lots opened six hours prior to kickoff. Fans can now come out, get their spots early and tailgate away.
Overnight RV Tailgating
Fans can make a weekend of Lobo Football with Overnight RV Parking. Overnight RV Parking is from noon (12 p.m.) the day prior to the game until noon (12 p.m.) the day after the game. Each Overnight RV location consists of 4-6 parking spaces just north of The Pit and 1-2 parking passes nearby. This is subject to change based on the needs of the UNM Athletic department.
Reserved Tailgating
Reserved tailgating is your tailgating season ticket! Reserved Tailgating starts at the opening of parking lots on game day. Each Reserved Tailgating spot consists of at least two (2) parking spaces and one (1) parking pass nearby. Reserved tailgate spots start at $250 for the season. This is subject to change based on the needs of the UNM Athletic department
Clear Bag Policy
This is a new policy this year. Fans must use a clear bag to bring into the stadium. The bags must be no larger than 12”x6”x12”. Clear backpacks are not allowed. Palm-sized clutch purses will be permitted, as will gallon-sized freezer bags.
Mobile Ticketing
The Lobos are going completely digital for 2021! All tickets and parking will be downloadable to your mobile device. Step-by-step instructions can be found at https://storage.googleapis.com/golobos-com/2021/03/71194480-unm_digitalticketing-guide.pdf.
