Lobos Unable to Gain Momentum in San Diego, Drop Series Finale

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The University of New Mexico baseball team was unable to gain momentum in its series finale with San Diego State and was left run-less through seven innings of play. The Lobos (8-14, 6-9 MW) were unable to change the momentum of the game and ultimately dropped 0-15 to the Aztecs (16-6, 11-4 MW).

Mack Chambers tallied two hits on the day on three at-bats. The sophomore was in scoring position twice in the game, but the Lobos were unable to convert for a run.

Harry Fullerton, Connor Mang, Lance Russell, and Jack Silverman all went one-for-three in the game as the Lobos tallied a total of six hits. After the third inning, the team was able to rally, allowing just one strikeout through the last four frames. Still, the Aztecs shut down everything the Lobos put out, including two double plays that mitigated any momentum created by UNM.

The Aztecs opened the game in the second inning, scoring five runs, and the Lobos were unable to get a stop in time, as the team went on to score in all but one inning.

The Lobos will now return home to host San Jose State at Santa Ana Star Field on April 10-11. Tickets will be available for purchase later in the week.
