ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team played the second of its two exhibition games on Wednesday night against Eastern New Mexico University. Also similar to the exhibition opener against UC-Colorado Springs, all 12 healthy and available players took the court against the Greyhounds and logged at least six minutes of action. A total of 11 Lobos scored in the game and were led by redshirt senior Najala Howell with 18 points. Nearly all of Howell’s points came in the first quarter as she racked up 15. Four other Lobos ended the game in double figures with Jaedyn De La Cerda scoring 15, Ahlise Hurst with 14 and Antonia Anderson and Bride Kennedy-Hopoate with 11 points each. Both De La Cerda and Hurst did most of their damage from long range as each were 4-of-8 from distance.

On the boards, Howell led the team with her aforementioned 10 boards, but behind her were Anderson and Autumn Watts with eight. Despite not scoring in her 16 minutes of action, Jayla Everett dished out a team-high seven assists.

For the game, the Lobos shot 42% overall (33-of-79) from the floor and from beyond the arc (13-of-31). At the charity stripe, the Lobos shot 71% (20-of-28). On the other end of the court, ENMU shot 30% (16-of-54) overall from the floor and did not make their first field goal until the 9:08 mark of the second quarter.

The Lobos will now set their sights on the regular season opener against UC Riverside on Tuesday, November 5. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit.
