Brandt Hughes has been a part of the Lobo Family since 2019, but this is his first official season with the coaching staff, serving as a graduate assistant with the offense.
Hughes works move around with UNM’s quarterbacks and receivers, handling practice planning, film breakdown and on-the-field coaching. He also aids with statistical analysis and film preparation.
Hughes was named the starting quarterback as a junior college transfer in 2019, and threw for 218 yards in his only half with the Lobos. He suffered an injury in the opening half of the season against Incarnate Word, and that injury led to the end of his playing career.
Hughes joined the staff as a student assistant after his playing career was over, working with UNM’s offense and helping out wherever he could, mostly serving as a bridge between UNM’s quarterback room and the coaching staff.
He graduated with a degree in business administration and management from the Anderson School of Business at UNM in 2021.
