Brian Ferguson joined New Mexico as a Learning Specialist Intern in February of 2012. He currently holds the title of assistant director and handles football and volleyball for the department. Ferguson oversees the academic progress and advisement for both sports while overseeing external operations for LCSAS. He came to UNM Athletics after a four-year stint as the College Director of Young Life at the University of New Mexico.
Football in particular has seen record progress, as the team has set GPA records several times under Ferguson, including the program’s first GPA above a 3.0. A regular at practice and on road trips, he coordinates everything from advisement meetings to tutors to learning strategies and graduation progress. He previously has served as an academic advisor with women’s basketball, volleyball, and the cross country/track and field programs
Ferguson is a New Mexico alumnus with a bachelor’s degree in Criminology in 2007. He also holds a master’s degree in 2013 from Wayland Baptist University in Instructional Leadership
The native of Albuquerque and his wife, Marsha, have been married since 2009. The two have three kids, Kendall, Caleb, and Grayson.
