SOPHOMORE (2024): Played in 49 games with 48 starts… started 17 games in center, 29 games in left field and two games as the designated player… three stolen bases in the season opener against Tennessee State were the most for a Lobo in a single game since 2017… 13 multiple hit games (10 games with two, three games with three) and seven games with multiple RBI (six games with two and one game with four)… four RBI came at Texas Tech on March 12 and were the most by a Lobo in a game this season… finished the season on a five-game hitting streak and a 12-game streak of reaching base… led the team in slugging percentage (.674), on-base percentage (.471), triples (five), total bases (87), walks (19)… second on the team in batting average (.380), runs scored (32), hits (49), RBI (25), home runs (eight)… improved production in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, hits, total bases, home runs, triples, RBI from freshman to sophomore season… first collegiate home run came against SFA on Feb. 23… hit consecutive home runs against NMSU on April 16 and Utah State on April 19…hit two home runs in the final series against Fresno State… recorded 87 putouts to lead all outfielders and was the fourth most on the team.
FRESHMAN (2023): Started all 50 games in left field… finished with 45 hits, seven doubles, 19 RBI and 19 walks… hit .315 with a .410 on-base percentage and a .364 slugging percentage… led the team in walks and was second in runs scored (36) and tied for second in doubles… third on the team in on-base percentage and hits, fourth in batting average… had a 16-game streak of reaching base and a six-game hitting streak… finished the season with a four-game streak of reaching base and a two-game hitting streak… posted 12 multiple hit games and five multiple RBI games… 13th in the MW in runs scored, tied for 18th in hits, tied for third in sac bunts (8)… named MW Freshman of the Week twice (Feb. 21 and March 28) and MW Player of the Week once (March 28)… named MW Scholar-Athlete and to the MW All-Academic Team.
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Glen High School… also lettered in basketball and volleyball… member of the National Honor Society and the honor roll… won the Golden Glove in 2018 and 2021… broke the school record for stolen bases in 2021 with 26.
CLUB: Played for the Texas Bombers- Gold … named to the all-summer team as a top outfielder in the nation.
PERSONAL: Birthday is July 28… born in Albuquerque… parents are Cassandra Abdulaziz, Jamel Abdulaziz, Jeremy Chavez and Veronica Chavez… has five siblings: Bella, Jarren, Javin, Kian and Kyla… mother (Cassandra) and cousin (Anthony Chavez) graduated from UNM… mother also played at UNM from 2001-06 and was a middle infielder… criminology major.
