Sophomore (2013): Won the 2013 Men’s Slalom National Title and finished 17th in the giant slalom in his first trip to the NCAAs…earned First Team All-America honors for the slalom win…had four victories and five top-5 finishes in 2013…won the slalom at the CU Spencer Nelson Invite, the DU Invite and UNM Invite…ranks first in UNM history for most men’s slalom victories in a single season and is tied for second for most men’s alpine wins in a single season.
Freshman (2012): Was a consistent competitor for UNM, recording one top-20 finish and six top-10 finishes…placed 12th in the giant slalom and eighth in the slalom at the CU Invitational/Spencer Nelson Memorial on Jan. 7 and Jan. 11…finished 10th in the slalom at the University of Denver Invitational on Feb. 15…took seventh in the slalom at the Alaska Anchorage Invitational on Feb. 10…led UNM with a third-place finish in the slalom at the Seawolf Invitational on Feb. 11…placed fourth in the slalom and 21st in the giant slalom at the NCAA Qualifier on Feb. 22 and 23…placed seventh in the slalom at the RMISA Championships/NCAA West Regional on Feb. 24.
Prior to UNM: Graduated from Nilsian Lukio (Nilsian High School) in 2009.
Personal: Born in Kauniainen, Finland….son of Jaana and Markku Rasanen…has two siblings, Jeppe and Pia…lists Kenny Powers as his favorite athlete and Old School as his favorite movie…hobbies include tennis, golf and chillaxin’.
