Redshirt Senior (2013): Tied for 19th place in the 5K classical at the UNM Invite on Feb. 1 for a new career best…placed 23rd in the 5K freestyle and finished 24th in the 10K classical at the DU Invite, Jan. 19-20…placed 26th in the 15K freestyle and 23rd in the classical at the CU Invite, Jan. 12-13.
2012: Redshirted the 2012 season…earned academic distinction as a Lobo Scholar-Athlete.
Junior(2011): Finished 22nd in the women’s 15K classical at the 2011 NCAA West Region RMISA Championships (Feb.26) … finished 21st in the women’s 5K classical at the University of Denver Invitational (Feb. 13) … finished 23rd in the women’s 5K classical at the UNM Invitational (Feb. 5).
Sophomore (2010):Claimed 10 top-30 finishes in her second season as a Lobo…placed 27th in the classic and the freestyle at the Utah Invite Jan. 11-12…finished 22nd in the classic and 26th in the freestyle at the Montana State Invite Jan. 15-17…claimed 21st in the classic and 23rd in the freestyle at the Jade Enterprises/New Mexico Invitational Feb. 5-6…tied her career-best placement of 21st in the classic and finished 28th in the freestyle at the Nevada Invite Feb. 19-21…Finished 29th in the classic and 28th in the freestyle at the RMISA Championships/NCAA West Regional hosted by the University of Colorado Feb. 26-27.
Freshman (2009): Five top-30 finishes during rookie season…finished a career-best 20th place in the freestyle at the RMISA Championships/NCAA West Regionals…missed the Denver Invitational to compete at the World Juniors Cross Country Ski Championships in France.
Prior to UNM: Was a member of the Midwest Junior National ski team and competed for the MPLS ski club…two-time team MVP…earned leadership awards in cross-country running and skiing…all-conference in cross country and skiing…All-state skier…first-place honors at Taylor Publishing Camp.
Personal: Born February 23, 1990, in Edina, Minn.,…graduated in 2008 from Buffalo High School…daughter of Lynn Ness and Ian Leask…has two siblings, Tracy and Ewan…plans to major in English and French with a pre-law emphasis…enjoys running, biking, reading, playing violin and making crafts.
