REDSHIRT SENIOR (2016): Started all 22 games for the Lobos as a defender … finished the season with four assists … credited with the assist that sealed the Lobos’ 2-1 win over No. 5 Charlotte in the C-USA Tournament semifinal … selected to the Mike Berticelli Memorial Invitational All-Tournament Team, as well as to the Grange & Ashwill Memorial Invitational All-Tournament Team … member of the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team … named the C-USA Tournament Defensive MVP … member of the NSCAA All-Southwest Region Second Team … named to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

REDSHIRT JUNIOR (2015): Named Second Team All-Conference USA for his play at center back for UNM … started all 18 matches and finished second among Lobo field players in minutes played with 1,666 … earned his lone assist on the season on UNM’s game-tying goal at No. 19 LMU on Sept. 13 … was responsible for both of UNM’s team saves with a pair of goal-line clearances … named to the Grange & Ashwill Memorial Invitational All-Tournament Team on Sept. 6 for his play against San Diego and No. 13 UCSB … named CoSIDA Academic All-District.

REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2014): Played in all 18 games for UNM, including 17 starts … assisted on both goals in UNM’s 2-0 win over FIU on Oct. 4 … was third on the team in minutes with 1,474, which easily surpassed his freshman season total … helped the Lobos post eight shutouts and a 0.88 GAA from his center back position … named to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2013): Thrusted into the starting lineup due to injuries in middle of Conference USA play… Finished the season with seven appearances with five of them as a starter… Credited with a team save in his first career start at Tulsa (10-9-2013)… First career shot was on goal in UNM’s 4-3 win over #10 UAB (10-30-2013)… Logged 435 minutes played in his seven appearances.

FRESHMAN (2012): Redshirt season

CLUB/DEVELOPMENTAL Played with the Colorado Rush of the USSF Developmental Academy… Helped squad make playoffs after finishing second in their division.

HIGH SCHOOL 2011 ESPN-HS All-Colorado Team following his senior season at Niwot HS… Scored eight goals in 2010… Named the Colorado State 4A Northern Conference Player of the Year and the Times Call Player of the Year… Named to the coaches’ first-team All-State, first-team Colorado 4A Northern Conference, first-team All-Area Boulder County and first-team All-City… Member of the 2010 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Showcase Select Team… Scored three goals in 2009… Earned all-state Honorable Mention honors and helped his team to the 2009 state championship title… Also made an appearance in the 2008 state championship title game… Team earned runner-up spot.

PERSONAL Full name is Christopher Daniel Gurule… Originally born in Albuquerque to Jean and Anthony Gurule on Oct. 10, 1993… Both parents are UNM alumni… Mother played basketball the former Jean Rostermundt who played for UNM in late 1970’s and ranks top five in several program records…  Father, Anthony, played basketball 1979-80… Has three siblings, Michael, Antonio and Dominic… Favoite food in enchiladas… Favorite athlete is Ozil… Intends to major in engineering.
