Becky Freeman, a Registered Dietitian and Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), joined the Lobo athletics staff in 2012.
She is the Clinical Sports Nutritionist for all varsity teams and has created the sports nutrition program where she provides sound nutrition information and guidance through education and counseling. She coordinates our sports nutrition services and works in conjunction with the sports medicine, strength & conditioning, and coaching staff.
Freeman provides one-on-one nutritional counseling to provide performance hydration and fueling strategies along with proper and compliant supplementation. She presents team nutrition education sessions and coordinates specialized group nutrition programs. Becky also assists teams with on-site and travel meals, conducts body composition measurements and analysis, and provides eating disorder prevention and counseling. She has also established fueling stations for the student-athletes.
Freeman has always had a passion for sports and nutrition and thoroughly believes in the saying, “practice what you preach.” Throughout her life she has participated in sports such as volleyball, basketball, track, swimming, softball, American Quarter Horse performance shows, half & full marathons, triathlons, and currently competes nationally in Olympic Weightlifting for High Desert Athletic Club (LWC of USA Weightlifting).
Other credentials she holds include NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) as well as USAW Level 2 Senior Weightlifting Coach.
