Junior (2013): Placed a season-best 21st in the 15K freestyle and 22nd in the 5K classical at the CU Invite, Jan. 12-13…finished 25th and 26th in the 5K freestyle and the 10K classical at the DU Invite, Jan. 19-20.
Sophomore (2012): Earned academic distinction as a Lobo Scholar-Athlete…recorded two top-20 finishes…claimed 18th place in the 5K freestyle and 13th in the 15K classical at the Seawolf Invitational Feb. 9 and 10…finished 22nd in both the 5K women’s classical and 10K freestyle at the Alaska Anchorage Invitational Feb. 4 and 6…took 22nd in the 5K freestyle and 21st in the 15K classic at RMISA Championships/NCAA West Regional.
Prior to UNM: Graduated from Joensuun Yteiskoulun Lukio (high school) in 2010…Competed in the Finnish Youth Championships during all four years of high school and her first year of college (attended Itä-Suomen yliopisto/University of Eastern Finland for one year) finishing in the top-10 eleven times.
Personal: Born in Rautjärvi, Finland…daughter of Harri and Marja-Liisa Kirvesniemi…both of her parents were professional skiers, Marja-Liisa was an Olympic Champion in 1984 and Harri was a World Champion in 1989…has one sister, Elisa, who is a track and field athlete…hobbies include cooking, movies, friends, music, spectator sport and writing…favorite athletes are Emil Jönsson, Eldar Roenning, Carolina Kluft, Sanya Richards and Tanja Poutiainen…favorite food is homemade pizza…favorite movie is The Holiday.
