Five Named to MW All-Tournament Team
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Mountain West offices have released the 2025 Mountain West Men’s Tennis All-Tournament team, and in one of the least shocking developments in the Lobo season, there are a lot of Lobos on the list. Five in all.
Three players were named in singles and two doubles teams were also named. The teams are chosen based on the flights played in singles or doubles over the course of the tournament. In singles, Aram Noroozian earned the honor at No. 1 singles, Daniil Kakhniuk at No. 5 and Avery Tallakson at No. 6 singles. Tallakson, who bounced back from down 5-0 and facing set point in the semifinals, clinched UNM’s semifinal and championship win and was named MVP.
He and doubles mate Aditya Balsekar were named All-Tournament at No. 3 doubles, and Noroozian and Georgio Samaha were named the same at No. 1 doubles. UNM, ranked No. 62 in the latest ITA rankings, opens it’s NCAA Tournament at No. 5 Stanford on Friday at 1 p.m. Pacific, 2 p.m. Mountain, playing the host Cardinal, the tournament’s No. 4 overall seed.
