CHULA VISTA, Calif. –– The New Mexico men’s golf team concluded play Tuesday at the Lamkin Invitational with the final rounds at the San Diego Country Club. The Lobos shot even par during the third round to finish the tournament T-8th at 6-under.

San Diego State took the title at 45-under, followed by San Diego and Colorado tied for second at 27-under. BYU was fourth at 18-under, followed by Saint Mary’s (13-under), Colorado State and Santa Clara (11-under), and the Lobos and Loyola Marymount (6-under).

Mesa Falleur led the Lobos at the tournament, earning his third top-10 of the season. He shot a 3-under 69 on Tuesday to finish the event T-9th at 8-under. Wyatt Provence also finished the event in red numbers at 1-under after a final round 75. Carson Herron and Oliver Cage each shot even par 72 on Tuesday to finish at 1-over and 2-over, respectively. Alvaro Portillo rounded out the lineup at 14-over.

“We really struggled as a whole on the Poa Annua greens this week in what was a letdown after such a solid tournament less than a week ago,” said head coach Jake Harrington. “We need to do a better job of focusing on the process of hitting great shots instead of focusing on the short term results. With that said, I am really proud of how Mesa battled this week, finishing in ninth place and coming back from an even par opening round and shooting 8-under over the final two rounds to carry the team.”

The Lobos return to action March 23-25 with a trip to South Carolina for the Hootie at Bulls Bay.
