by Frank Mercogliano

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — University of New Mexico Vice President and Director of Athletics Fernando Lovo has announced two key leadership appointments as part of the ongoing construction of his executive leadership team. Jalen Dominguez has been promoted to Deputy Athletic Director – Chief Revenue Officer and Ryan Berryman returns to the Lobo Family as Deputy Athletic Director – Chief Operating Officer.

Dominguez has started in his new role, and Berryman will rejoin UNM Athletics on March 14.

In his new position as Deputy Athletic Director – Chief Revenue Officer, Dominguez will oversee various revenue-generating units, including ticket sales and operations, multimedia rights, corporate sponsorships, food and beverage, NIL resource development, and Lobo Club fundraising initiatives. He will also serve as the sport administrator for the football program. He has been an integral part of Lobo Athletics since 2016, rising through the ranks from Assistant Athletic Director for Development to his most recent role as Senior Associate Athletic Director and Executive Director of the Lobo Club. During his time at UNM Athletics, the Lobo Club has set multiple fundraising records and recently launched the Lobo Alliance, the partnership between UNM Athletics 505 Sports Venture Foundation.

“Jalen is a proven leader in fundraising and revenue generation, and his deep ties to UNM and New Mexico position him perfectly to drive the future of our revenue generation efforts,” said Lovo. “His ability to harness and maximize existing revenue streams while pursuing and unlocking potential new avenues and opportunities across multiple revenue-producing sources will allow us to navigate the evolving landscape of college athletics.”

Prior to his tenure as Executive Director of the Lobo Club, Dominguez, a native of Albuquerque, served on the UNM Foundation executive leadership team and oversaw a sales and service team at UCLA and worked in the Wooden Athletic Fund, UCLA Athletics’ fundraising arm. Dominguez, a former basketball student-athlete at New Mexico State University, earned his master’s degree in sports administration from UNM in 2011. His parents both hold PhD’s from UNM and served long careers on campus. Dominguez and his wife, Stephanie, have two children, Luke and Grace.

Berryman rejoins the Lobos after serving as Senior Associate Athletic Director and Chief Financial Officer at the University of Washington. In his new role as Deputy Athletic Director – Chief Operating Officer, Berryman will oversee various internal operations including budget oversight, multi-year fiscal planning, human resources, procurement services, equipment operations, licensing and trademark management, merchandising, Nike contract administration, state legislative planning, legal affairs, contracts, and department travel. He will also serve as a liaison to the Mountain West and as the sport administrator for the men’s basketball program, as well as other sports to be determined.

“Ryan’s deep understanding of college athletics operations, combined with his extensive financial acumen, will be instrumental in helping us navigate and thrive in this ever-evolving landscape,” said Lovo. “His strategic vision and experience at both UNM and the University of Washington will be critical in positioning us for long-term success. I am thrilled to welcome Ryan back home to UNM.”

Berryman previously served in multiple leadership roles at UNM from 2015 to 2024, including Senior Associate Athletic Director. A three-time graduate of UNM, he holds an undergraduate degree in marketing and operations management from the Anderson School of Management, and master’s degrees in business administration and sports administration. His ties to Lobo Athletics run deep, having spent over three years as Director of Basketball Operations, over three years as a basketball student manager, and at one point serving as a student regent for the university, a state-appointed position.
