Men’s Golf Travels to North Carolina for The Williams Cup
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s golf team will return to action this weekend when it travels across the country for The Williams Cup. The event, hosted by North Carolina at the 7,346-yard, par-72 Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, will run Sunday-Tuesday.
The tournament will feature one round per day, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.
The tournament features seven of the top 31 teams in the nation, as the No. 28 Lobos are joined by No. 8 host North Carolina, No. 3 Auburn, No. 4 Arizona State, No. 16 Florida, No. 21 Notre Dame and No. 31 Louisville. Augusta, Missouri, NC State, North Florida, Oregon State and UNC Wilmington round out the 13-team field.
The Lobos will feature a lineup of Carson Herron, Alvaro Portillo, Mesa Falleur, Clark Sonnenberg and David Davila.
The Lobos are coming off the NB3 Match Play earlier this month at Twin Warriors Golf Club in Santa Ana Pueblo, N.M. New Mexico went 1-1-1 in the event that featured, New Mexico State, Stanford and Texas.
