LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The New Mexico women’s golf team began play Monday at The Show at Spanish Trail, with the opening two rounds at Spanish Trail Golf Club. The Lobos shot 10-over during the opening 36 holes and are tied for sixth place at the event.

New Mexico shot 4-over in the first round before shooting 6-over in the second round to finish the day at 10-over. UCLA is the 36-hole leader at 2-under, while SMU is the only other team under par at 1-under. Pepperdine is third at 2-over, followed by Virginia at 7-over, TCU at 9-over and the Lobos and Purdue tied at 10-over.

Myah McDonald and Lauren Lehigh are both in the top 10 through two rounds of play. Lehigh shot rounds of 71 and 70 and is in fifth place at 3-under through 36 holes. McDonald, who won the tournament last year, is T-10th at even par after back-to-back rounds of 72. Lisa-Marie Pagliano is at 8-over, Maria Caparros Levin is at 10-over and Annie Saechueng is at 11-over.

“We held tough today,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “Lauren and Myah played steady and made a lot of birdies. All five need to bring it tomorrow for us to move up the leaderboard.”

The Show at Spanish Trail will conclude Tuesday with the third round of play at Spanish Trail Golf Club.
