Lobos Downed in Four at Home by Fresno

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico Volleyball fell down 2-0 and its rally fell short despite a dominant third set and a late spurt in the closeout as the Lobos fell in four (23-25, 22-25, 25-18, 20-25) to Fresno State at the Johnson Center Thursday night.

The Lobos (17-9, 9-6 MW) outblocked the Bulldogs (16-10, 10-5 MW) nine to five and served up six aces, but couldn’t dig themselves out of the 2-0 hole as Fresno hit a match-high .386 in the final set to dash UNM’s hopes of a reverse sweep. UNM has only lost two matches in a row twice this season, with both being to Utah State and Fresno State.

The Lobos will return to action for one last time this season at the Johnson Center on Saturday vs. Nevada at 1 p.m., when they’ll honor seven seniors pregame.
