Azkara's Run Ends at Norman Open

by Frank Mercogliano

NORMAN, Okla. — Arda Azkara’s run at the Norman Open came to an end in both singles and doubles, and it took facing the top seed in the tournament on both sides to make that happen.

Azkara’s run in singles ended in the quarterfinals after a 6-2, 4-2 retired loss to top-seeded Learner Tien of USC.  In doubles, He and Auburn’s Tyler Stice lost to top-seeded Mark Whitehouse and Matias Soto 7-5, 6-4 in the semifinals.

With the Norman Open behind him, Azkara returns to UNM and will join his teammates as they get ready for a split tournament with some players taking part in the SMU Invitational November 3-5 and some in the Georgia Tech Open November 3-5.
