Jeremy Parks and Connor Gilbert Join UNM External Team

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. –– The University of New Mexico announced Monday the additions of Jeremy Parks and Connor Gilbert to the Lobos’ external team. Parks joins UNM as the Assistant AD for Marketing and Promotions, while Gilbert is an assistant director of communications.

Parks will oversee the Lobos’ marketing efforts in all sports, while working primarily with the men’s basketball and women’s soccer programs. He comes to Albuquerque after spending the past two seasons at Portland, where he was a program manager of marketing. While with the Pilots, he implemented the marketing and promotional plans for all revenue-driven sports in the department. Prior to his tenure at Portland, he spent two seasons as a marketing and fan experience graduate assistant at Cal State Bakersfield and one year as an athletics ticketing fellow at UC Davis. He is a 2018 graduate of UC Santa Barbara, earning a bachelor’s in Communication and Political Science and has a MBA from Cal State Bakersfield.

“We are very excited to have Jeremy on board here at UNM,” said Will Price, Senior Associate AD for Revenue Generation. “His attention to detail and level of experience at his previous institutions will fit nicely with the Lobo family, as we look to build on last year’s success in men’s basketball.”

Gilbert will be the primary communications contact for the Lobos’ volleyball, baseball and track & field/cross country programs. He comes to UNM from Gonzaga, where he worked with those same three programs while serving as a sports information the past two seasons with the Zags. Gilbert also worked for the Spokesman-Review as an editor, designer and writer for three years. A 2020 graduate of Gonzaga, he was the sports editor of the Gonzaga Bulletin while majoring in English and Journalism. He has also earned a pair of master’s degrees from Gonzaga, in Communication & Organizational Leadership and Sport & Athletic Administration.

“I’m excited to add Connor Gilbert to our team at UNM,” said Frank Mercogliano, Assistant AD for Communications. “Connor really rose to the top of our search, and his past experience with volleyball, track and field and baseball made him perfect for this position. He is a terrific writer and has some really innovative thoughts and ideas on ways to promote our teams, so he is going to be a great addition.”
