Lobos Lose Game Three at Fresno State

by Allison Weiss

FRESNO, Calif.— The third inning proved to be the difference in Sunday’s series finale at Fresno State, with the Bulldogs scoring four runs in the eventual 4-1 final.

After the Lobos left a runner on third in the top of the third following a one-out double by Keyannah Chavez and a grounder that advanced the freshman where she was left stranded, a leadoff walk, single to right that moved the Fresno State runner to third, and a single to center field opened the scoring, with the Bulldogs adding two more runs on a double to left field and a grounder to short that scored the fourth run.

The Lobos got on the board in the top of the sixth with Ashley Archuleta leading off with an infield single, moving around to third on consecutive groundouts, and Emma Bramson bringing her in on another infield single to the shortstop.

At the plate, the Lobos finished with six hits, led by two from Archuleta and Elizabeth Baylor, along with Chavez’s double and Bramson’s RBI-single.

In the circle, Amber Linton went the distance for her 13th complete game of the season, striking out four and gives the junior 138 strikeouts this season.
