Lobos Conclude Play at Mountain View Collegiate

TUCSON, Ariz. – The New Mexico women’s golf team concluded play on Sunday at the Mountain View Collegiate with the final round at Mountain View Golf Club. The Lobos shot 9-under in the third round to finish the event in ninth place at 11-under.

Iowa State won the event with a NCAA-record 60-under par score, posting a 33-shot victory. Ohio State was second at 27-under, TCU was third at 22-under, and San Jose State and Houston tied for fourth at 19-under.

Maria Caparros Levin led New Mexico on Sunday with a 5-under 67 in the final round, her best round of her collegiate career. Jenny Lertsadwattana shot 68 in the final round to finish T-7th at 9-under for the tournament. Lauren Lehigh had her third straight round under par, shooting a final round 71 to finish at 4-under. Annie Saechueng shot 73 and Lisa-Marie Pagliano shot 74 on Sunday to round out the UNM lineup.

“We had a good showing today,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “What a huge effort by Maria and Jenny. There were lots of birdies out there and we made a push in the final holes.”

The Lobos will return to action March 24-26 when they conclude the regular season schedule with the PING/ASU Invitational in Phoenix.
