Lobo Women’s Golf Signs Ciara Rushmer to 2023 Recruiting Class

by Steve Kirkland

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The New Mexico women’s golf program announced today that Ciara Rushmer has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Lobos next season. A native of Essex, England, she will be a member of the 2023-24 freshman class for the Lobos.

“Ciara is one of those players who will get better and better,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “UNM is the perfect place for her to reach her ultimate goals. I’m extremely excited to have her in our class of 2023.”

Rushmer has been ranked in the top 1300 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. Earlier this year she won the Faldo Series England South I Championship and later finished runner-up at the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters. This past summer she finished eighth at the English Girls’ Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship and reached match play at the R&A Girls Amateur.

“I chose UNM because of the great athletic opportunities that will allow me to reach my highest potential as not only a golfer but as an individual. The coaches have great experience and the facilities on campus are some of the best I have seen. They have produced some great successes over the years, including past English Lobo Jodi Ewart Shadoff. UNM also offered a great academic curriculum which best suits me and my future career path,” said Rushmer.

Rushmer joins Rebecca Galasso of Italy in the 2023 recruiting class. Galasso signed with the Lobos earlier in the month.
