Lobo Women’s Golf Signs Rebecca Galasso to 2023 Recruiting Class

by Steve Kirkland

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The New Mexico women’s golf program announced today that Rebecca Galasso has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Lobos next season. A native of Milan, Italy, she will be a member of the 2023-24 freshman class for the Lobos.

“Rebecca has a vast amount of experience playing internationally,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “She has played on different courses throughout Europe, including places like Carnoustie where the conditions and set-up of the course are extremely difficult. Her demeanor and attitude are attributes that will fit in well with the rest of our team and her competitive nature will serve her well in collegiate golf.”

Galasso has posted two victories in the past year in her native country, winning the Trofeo Stella d’Oro and the Trofeo Città di Milano. She also helped her team with the 2021 Women’s Italian U18 Team Championship and the Women’s Italian U14 Team Championship twice. She reached match play of the 2022 British Girls Amateur Championship at Carnoustie.

“I chose UNM because of its academic program and because I’m looking for a place where I can grow both as a golfer and a person. In talking with the coaches about their program, they immediately matched with my vision and aspirations,” said Galasso.
