Lobos Win Five More in Denver

DENVER, Colo. — The New Mexico Lobos men’s tennis team kept up their winning ways as the Lobos took two of three doubles matches and split six singles matches to go 5-4 on Day 2 of the Denver Hidden Duals.  The tournament concludes on Sunday morning.

In doubles, Alex Maggs and Jan Pucalka took a 6-4 win over Brad Buckland and Jamieson Nathan while Rafael Abdulsalam and Georgio Samaha cruised to a 6-0 whiewashing of Maximillian Relic and Jacob Huppin.  The lone doubles loss was a 7-5 setback as Matej Panik and Nejc Sitar won over Daniil Kakhniuk and Ryoma Matsushita.

In singles, the Lobos got a 6-4, 7-5 win from Matsushita over Nathan, a 7-5, 6-2 win for Aram Noroozian over Sitar and a 6-1, 7-5 by Pucalka over Buckland.  UNM’s three singles loses were all close, with Abdulsalam falling 6-4, 6-4 to Panik, Samaha losing 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 to Relic and Kakhniuk losing 7-5, 6-3 to Huppin.
