Danielle Verster Earns MW Freshman of the Week
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— Freshman runner Danielle Verster has been named MW Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday.
It is the first conference weekly honor for the Lobo and the second for New Mexico this season after Gracelyn Larkin was named MW Female Runner of the Week on Oct. 4.
Verster ran a 20:43.0 in the Women’s 6K Championship race at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, improving a total of 51 spots from the 2000m mark to the finish line. The Potchefstroom, South Africa, native advanced from 128th at the 2000m point of the race to 104 at the 4000m mark, before dropping another 27 points to finish 77th.
