by Steve Kirkland

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – Jenny Lertsadwattana earned her first collegiate title on Sunday as the New Mexico women’s golf team concluded play at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate at the Highlands Ranch Golf Club. Lertsadwattana shared medalist honors with Carla Bernat of Tulane as both ended the event at 10-under par.

Lertsadwattana shot a 1-under 71 in the final round to finish tied atop the leaderboard. She is the first Lobo to take home medalist honors since Lauren Lehigh was co-medalist at the 2021 Mountain West Championship.

The Lobos shot 4-over as a team on Sunday to finish the event tied for third at 2-under. Vanderbilt won the tournament at 25-under, while Xavier was runner-up at 5-under. New Mexico and Tulane tied for third at 2-under as only four teams finished the event under par.

Lertsadwattana’s 71 was the low round for the Lobos on Sunday. Annie Saechueng and Myah McDonald each shot even par 72 in the final round. Maria Caparros Levin shot 77 and Lehigh shot 78 to round out the lineup.

“Jenny had a great tournament,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “Today she was 2-over at one point and got it back to 1-under to get back to the top of the leaderboard. As a team, we just couldn’t get anything going today. We had too many bogeys and not the best finish cost us second place.”

The Lobos will return to action Oct. 23-24 with the Jim West Challenge in San Marcos, Texas, hosted by Texas State.
