by Steve Kirkland

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – Season tickets for the upcoming 2022-23 University of New Mexico men’s and women’s basketball season went on sale on Monday, October 3.

Tickets for the 20-game home men’s schedule start at $199, with sideline seating starting at $306. Tickets for the 18-game home women’s schedule start at $110, with chairback seating starting at $220. Fans can purchase season tickets online at GoLobos.com/tickets or in person at the University Arena Ticket Office.

The men’s team returns All-Mountain West guards Jamal Mashburn, Jr. and Jaelen House from last year’s squad that more than doubled the previous year’s win total. In total, New Mexico’s top five returning scorers from last year return, and are joined by a talented group of newcomers.

The Lobos’ 20-game home schedule includes 10 non-conference games, nine conference games and one exhibition. This year’s non-conference schedule is highlighted by the annual rivalry game with New Mexico State, the return of the Lobo Classic during Thanksgiving weekend and a December matchup with Iona, where Richard Pitino will coach against his father, Hall of Famer Rick Pitino.

The men’s Mountain West home schedule begins Dec. 28 against Colorado State, one of six 2022 NCAA Tournament teams to visit The Pit this season. Reigning conference champion Boise State is one of four January games, while Wyoming and San Diego State are among the four February home games.

The Lobo women’s basketball team finished 26-10 last season, including 14-4 in conference and 17-1 at home. While they return three starters and eight players who saw playing time from a season ago, UNM added further depth with three transfers and four freshmen. Additionally, there will be local talent on the 2022-23 roster with five New Mexico natives.

The Lobos have 18 home games on the schedule, with seven non-conference games, nine conference games and two exhibitions, and includes notable non-conference games against Arizona, Arizona State, Houston and New Mexico State.

UNM opens its home schedule on Nov. 12 against Houston and eight days later has its second home game against Arizona State on Nov. 20. The Lobos host the Wildcats to open December on Dec. 4, the start of a three game homestand. Conference play begins at home for New Mexico on New Year’s Eve with Air Force and has three home games in the month of January and five home games in the month of February.
