UNM Softball Adds Emmalyn Brinka

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The Lobo softball program continues to add depth to the 2023 roster with the latest addition of right-handed pitcher Emmalyn Brinka, as announced by New Mexico head coach Nicole Dickson on Friday.

When Dickson was hired in June, she mentioned an area of emphasis would be adding pitchers to the roster, and has delivered with signing her third pitcher in Brinka. In total, the Lobos will add four new pitchers to the 2023 team for a total of six on the roster.

From Chandler, Arizona, Brinka attended Corona del Sol High School and earned first team and second team all-region during her high school career. In her four years on varsity, the Lobo signee pitched a total of 308.2 innings with 62 appearances, 287 strikeouts and a 3.13 ERA. Her senior year, she appeared in 24 games with 111.1 innings in the circle and recorded 129 strikeouts to just 31 walks, with two shutouts and two saves and carried an ERA of 2.58.  While primarily a pitcher, Brinka also played first.

Brinka was also proficient at the plate, hitting .348 in her career, and .408 in her final high school season with 31 hits, 24 RBI, 10 doubles, a triple and two home runs.

She is the fourth Lobo to sign this offseason, joining Taylor Snow, Jenna Trim and Chloe Yeatts.
