Chen Named All-MW for Second Straight Year

by Frank

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — As New Mexico readies for its Mountain West Tournament opener on Wednesday morning, the team got a bit of good news for a fifth-year senior.  Yue Lin “Polly” Chen was named All-Mountain West in singles for the second straight year.  She was one of 16 named in singles to the squad, which also had eight doubles teams named.

By earning All-Mountain West honors in back-to-back seasons, she becomes UNM’s first back-to-back honoree since Emily Olivier was named All-Mountain West in 2015 and 2016, and she is only the second Lobo to earn the back-to-back honor in the last 13 seasons.

Chen is 12-14 in singles, playing in the No. 1 position all season long.  She owns 61 career singles wins at UNM and 107 career wins overall.
