Lobos Climb to Third on Second Day of Mountain West Championship
RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – The New Mexico women’s golf team climbed up the leaderboard at the 2022 Mountain West Championship during Tuesday’s second round at the Dinah Shore Course at Mission Hills Country Club. The Lobos shot 10-over on Tuesday to climb from fourth place to third place at 19-over.
San Jose State is the 36-hole leader of the championship at 7-under. Fresno State is second at 18-over, followed by the Lobos at 19-over and Boise State at 21-over.
Lauren Lehigh shot the low round of the day at Mission Hills, a 3-under 69 to move up to third on the individual leaderboard. She was one of just four players in the field to shoot in red numbers on Tuesday. Lisa-Marie Pagliano shot a 75 on Tuesday and is T-20th at 7-over for the tournament. Caroline Jansson is also at 7-over for the week after shooting 77 in the second round. Myah McDonald also shot 77 on Tuesday and Jenny Lertsadwattana shot 79 to round out the Lobo lineup.
“Our par-3 play was lacking today, so we need to have better approaches tomorrow,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “Lauren played so steady. Her putter was on and it moved her up the leaderboard significantly. The wind really picked up over our last few holes and we handled it well. We are looking forward to a good day tomorrow for the final round.”
The tournament concludes Wednesday at the Mission Hills Country Club.
