Lobo Sprinters Excel at Mt. SAC Relays, Distance Runners Highlight Bryan Clay Invitational

WALNUT, Calif./AZUSA, Calif. – The University of New Mexico track & field team completed its full weekend of events at the Mt. SAC Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational.

At the Bryan Clay Invitational, the women’s 1500m runners had some great times as Elise Thorner led the way with a fourth-place finish, running a time of 4:15.10. Her time would put her in the top-ten of the national qualifying list of the event, pending approval by TFRRS.

Abbe Goldstein ran a time of 4:15.86. She is already ranked at No. 10 with a time of 4:15.79 at the Stanford Invitational earlier in the season. Adva Cohen ran a time of 4:16.85 in the event at the meet. Her time would also put her in the top-20 nationally. Samree Dishon placed 18th with a time of 4:18.39. Dishon’s time earns her a top-40 spot.

Aidan Quinn hit a season-best mark of 15.52m in triple jump to put him in the top-40 national qualifying list for the event.

The Lobo sprinters at the Mt. SAC Relays excelled in their respective events. In the 400m hurdles, Rivaldo Leacock had a time of 50.35 seconds, exceeding his previous season best by .44 seconds. His time would move him up few spots on the national qualifying list.

In the 400m dash, Jevon O’Bryant ran a time of 46.00 seconds for fifth place and Jovahn Williamson ran a time of 46.29 seconds for tenth place. Both O’Bryant and Williamson are already 13th and 14th on the national qualifying list from times hit earlier in the season.

The Lobos return home next week on Thursday, April 21, to host the Don Kirby Tailwind.
