New Mexico Continues Play at PING/ASU Invitational
PHOENIX, Ariz. – The New Mexico women’s golf team continued play Saturday with the second round of the PING/ASU Invitational, hosted by Arizona State at the Papago Golf Course. The Lobos shot 11-over during Saturday’s round to sit in 11th place in an event that features an elite field of 12 top-50 teams.
The tournament host, the eighth-ranked Sun Devils, continue to lead at 21-under. Second-ranked Oregon and No. 19 Baylor are tied for second at 4-under, just ahead of top-ranked Stanford, in fourth at 2-under.
Jenny Lertsadwattana is T-4th on the individual leaderboard at 4-under after a second-round 73. Myah McDonald and Lauren Lehigh each posted a second-round 75, while Caroline Jansson shot 76 and Chloe Lauer shot 77 to round out the Lobo lineup.
“Focus is the key to shooting low here” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “When you lose focus, you lose shots. We have to do a better job of focusing during tomorrow’s round.”
The PING/ASU Invitational concludes Sunday in Phoenix.
