House and Mashburn Earn All-Mountain West Honors
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico guards Jaelen House and Jamal Mashburn, Jr. were named third-team All-Mountain West as the conference announced its 2022 men’s basketball awards on Tuesday. It marks the first time since 2016-17 that the Lobos have had a pair of players named to the three all-conference teams.
House averaged 16.9 points and 4.4 assists per game this season, making him one of three Mountain West players to rank in the conference top 10 in both categories. His 66 steals not only lead the conference, it is 16 more than any other player in the Mountain West. He also ranks second in the conference in free throw percentage at 88.7 percent. House had the Mountain West’s single game highs in points (42 at Air Force-tied), field goals (15 at Air Force), assists (13 vs. San Jose State) and steals (eight vs. Grambling State) this season.

Mashburn ranks seventh in the Mountain West in scoring at 18.3 points per game. He was one of two players in the Mountain West to score in double figures in every conference game this season, averaging 18.1 points in conference play. His 14 20-point games this season are the most by a Lobo since 2015-16 and he ranks sixth in the conference in free throw percentage at 78.4 percent. Mashburn has 567 points this season,10 points away from entering UNM’s top-20 single-season scoring totals.

The Lobos (13-18, 5-12) will begin play at the Mountain West Tournament on Wednesday with a first-round matchup with Nevada (12-17, 6-12). Game time at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas is noon MT (11 a.m. PT) and the game will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network.
