UNM Hosts Boise State Saturday to Close Home Schedule

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.– The Lobo women’s basketball team closes their home schedule on Saturday against Boise State at 1 p.m..
UNM is coming off of a win on Wednesday against Utah State in which four players scored in double figures and UNM outscored USU 29-7 in the second quarter, going on a 17-2 run over nearly half of the quarter (4:58) to take control. UNM was led by Jaedyn De La Cerda’s 21 points, who also finished with a game-high five assists in the game and added a steal. Shaiquel McGruder was nearly unstoppable on both ends of the floor, going 6-for-7 to finish with 17 points and added a game-high 10 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. In addition, McGruder added three steals and a block to her stat sheet.
Antonia Anderson tied her career high with five steals in the game, two more than the Aggies had as a team, and finished with 15 points. Coming off of the bench, Paula Reus tallied 12 points and had a game-high two blocks and two steals.
As a team, the Lobos recorded 15 steals, the third time this season that the Lobos have had 15 in a game, and the 11th time finishing with double-digit steals this season.
Five Lobos averaging double figures in conference play, with McGruder leading with 15.0 points per game, De La Cerda at 14.7, Anderson at 13.6, LaTascya Duff at 11.5 ppg, LaTora Duff at 10.5, and Paula Reus almost there at 8.7. De La Cerda has reached double figures in 21 games, McGruder in 19 games, LaTora in 16 games, Anderson in 15, LaTascya in 14, and Paula Reus in seven games. LaTascya has scored in double figures in three of the last four games, McGruder in the last two games, De La Cerda in the last six games and Reus in two of the last three games.
Boise State enters the game following a loss to Air Force on Wednesday. The Broncos had three players score in double figures, led by Dominique Leonidas with 12 points. Elodie Lalotte and Jayda Clark each had 10 points. Mary Kay Naro led with five assists, Lalotte had a team-high eight rebounds and Abby Muse had two blocks.
The Broncos are 4-10 in conference and have lost their last three games to Air Force (77-63), Utah State (63-55) and UNLV (69-52).
The Broncos have two players scoring in double figures in Leonidas (12.2) and Muse (11.1). Muse also leads with 7.9 rebounds per game and 18 blocks and has seven double-doubles in conference. Naro leads with 45 assists, although Leonidas is closely behind at 43. Along with scoring, Leonidas also leads with 22 steals.
In their 14 conference games, Leonidas, Muse, Naro and Anna Ostlie have started all 14 games with Trista Hull starting three and Lalotte starting all 11 of the games she has played in.
As a team, Boise State is second in conference games in blocks per game (3.7) with 52, as well as second in three-point field goal defense (.288) and third in rebounding margin (+6.0).
The Broncos are scoring 62.4 points per game while allowing 66.6 points per game.
BSU is 0-7 on the road in conference games, while UNM is 7-1 at home in conference games.
