Lobos Give Day Takes Place Thursday, Feb. 17

by Frank Mercogliano

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M — The UNM Lobo Club in conjunction with UNM Athletic will be hosting its second annual day of giving, #LobosGiveDay, on Thursday, Feb. 17.   The Lobo men’s basketball team will finsih off Lobos Give Day with a 7 p.m. matchup with Colorado State at The Pit in a big week of sports at UNM.

The 24-hour event is aimed to connect and rally the nationwide Lobo support and community for UNM athletics and the current generation of Lobo student-athletes.  Last year’s inaugural event raised $199,575 over the 24-hour period.

There will be four areas in which people can give towards: Education, the New Mexico Mutual Champions Training Center, UNM’s L.I.F.E. program (Lobo Institute for Excellence) or individual sport programs.

Throughout the day, Lobo Club will be promoting fun challenges, matches, and competitions in an effort to engage and bring the Lobo community together. One of the fun challenges will be to bring in a donation from every state in the United States and show just how far Lobo Nation spans.

Fans can even head out to The Main Event on I-25 and contribute.  On February 17 from 5-7 p.m., Lobo fans are encouraged to have a night of fun at Main Event where 20% of their entire purchase (restaurants, bowling, games, etc.) will support Lobo Athletics. Additionally, Lobo athletic staff, coaches, and players will be in attendance during that time signing autographs and doing Lobo giveaways.

Beyond just donations, Lobo Club is seeking the help of loyal Lobo supporters to serve as Champions of the day and help spread the word leading up to Lobo Giving Day and day of.
