ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The New Mexico women’s golf program announced today that Maria Caparros Levin has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Lobos next season. A native of Madrid, Spain, she will form the 2022-23 freshman class for the Lobos.

“We clicked with Maria right away,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “She is such a positive person and her love of the game of golf is evident in every conversation we had. She’s a competitor. She played very well this summer and fall and we’re excited to see what she can do as a Lobo.”

Caparros Levin has had a strong 2021 playing in her native country, highlighted by a second-place finish at the Campeonato Absoluto Individual Damas CCVM. She also has a sixth-place finish at the Campeonato Junior Y U25 de Madrid and top-20 finishes at the Campeonato R.S.H.E Club de Campo and the Spanish International Stroke Play.

“I have chosen UNM because of the academic programs the university offers, the golf facilities and the great coaching staff,” said Caparros Levin.
